Making a welcome return to Shrewsbury in their 25th anniversary year, with a new album, King of this Town, Juno awarded winning Blackie and the Rodeo Kings are a favourite with Shrewsbury audiences.
The band has organically evolved into one of the finest roots-oriented bands in North America. They have released eight CDs and gradually developed a feeling of brotherhood, manifested in a sense of groove, a blend of melodic, rhythmic playing that is distinctive, mystical, energizing and constantly evocative. The sum is indeed greater than the parts – and the parts are as good as they can get. Blackie and the Rodeo Kings remain one of Canada’s greatest musical treasures.
