Body percussion
Find out how your body can make music with our Assistant Dance Director and body percussion expert Sara Marshall-Rose. Sara discovered body percussion through her love of American flatfoot dance, a percussive style that has come from a melting pot of different cultures meeting in the Appalachian Mountains. Body percussion can be be experienced in most cultures as a way of expression and communication. Sara is particularly interested in Hambone that derives from the African/American slaves of the cotton plantations in America.
She will deliver a live introductory workshop to the art of body percussion and guide you through a warm up, some basic rhythm patterns and build up to a traditional Hambone song.
