The UK’s top festival of its kind on your doorstep!
Welcome to Shrewsbury Folk Festival where world class music meets laid-back riverside vibes on August Bank Holiday weekend.
Our four-day festival (Aug 28-31) couples a stellar line-up of folk, Americana, and world music with a relaxed, friendly feel on its tree–lined riverside site. But this family and dog friendly event is about so much more than the diverse line-up of festival favourites and new artists you’ll discover.
Among the four music stages, you’ll find a buzzing dance tent, packed programmes for the kids and teens, and workshops from crafts and music to walks and talks. A shopping village, fantastic food, six real ale and cocktail bars and on-site camping and glamping wrap up the perfect festival package!
Whether you’re a music lover, a festival fan or you’re just looking for a great day out with the family, we can guarantee a great time!
Never been to a folk festival before?
That’s OK. We welcome music and festival lovers of all ages and backgrounds. The most commonly used word to describe our festival is “friendly”. Whether you’re here for world-class live music, dancing, family fun, a day or a weekend, you’ll fit right in.
And if you think ‘folk’ isn’t for you, think again. We’ve got folk, roots, singer songwriters,Americana, world music, blues, Cajun and much more on the line-up so we can guarantee you’ll find something that’s music to your ears!

“Possibly the friendliest and most relaxed festival I have ever attended. In the 25 years I’ve been going to festivals I have never experienced such a warm and welcoming vibe”

“We keep coming back to this brilliant festival, year after year. There really is something for everyone to enjoy and always something new and unexpected. A bonus is the beautiful town of Shrewsbury a short walk from the festival site.”

“It is such a safe, family oriented festival which has something for everyone. Well run events across the board. There is always something new to see/hear.”

“This was my 17th SFF and it has never failed me. Always a terrific cross section of music from around the world. Big names, little names, little names that become big names – they all cross Shrewsbury’s eclectic stages. Every year I delight in seeing some favourite bands but also pick up on new performers to watch with interest. But it isn’t just the music. There is dance, workshops, wellness sessions walks – so much to do, so little time. The provision of food and drink is of fine quality and range, and the market area offers many opportunities to come away with that special little something. Most of all the people who run it seem to know and care about their audience and are ever helpful. I wish the SFF village was always there as it would be a great place to live!!”

“It’s big enough to feel like a festival and small enough to be friendly.”

“The Shrewsbury Folk Festival is nothing short of epic! The scale of the event is impressive, yet it still manages to hold onto a warm, friendly and welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel at home the moment you arrive. Every detail seems thoughtfully considered — from the layout of the site to the high standard of facilities, and of course, the incredible variety and quality of the music on offer.
“There’s a real sense that the organisers genuinely care about the comfort and enjoyment of everyone attending. They create a space that is often described as inclusive, but honestly, that word barely scratches the surface of what it feels like to be there — it’s more than inclusion, it’s a deep sense of belonging for all.
“Over the years, there have been changes, but it’s clear they keep what works and improve what doesn’t — and that’s a big part of why SFF continues to thrive and remain so popular.
“Each night at the festival, I go to sleep with a sense of peace, feeling like I truly belong there — like I’ve found my people. It’s a place where everyone is looked after, and where the spirit of community truly shines through. The combination of world-class performances, excellent organisation, and a supportive, joyful atmosphere makes it an unforgettable experience that I can’t recommend highly enough.”
