Richard Thompson is a singular British songwriter and guitarist whose five‑decade career blends precision, grit and unmistakable character.
From shaping Fairport Convention to forging a powerful solo path, he’s become known for incisive lyrics, inventive guitar work and performances that feel both intimate and commanding.
His latest album, Hippies, Thugs and Heroes, shows an artist still evolving with clarity, bite and depth, securing his place as one of the UK’s most distinctive musical voices.
Richard will be joined by Zara Phillips (harmony vocals) and some extra friends to make this a unique performance at Shrewsbury.
