Helping Hands, Dancing Feet

The second of our two school projects saw four percussive dance artists working in eight Shropshire schools this summer, reaching around 800 young people.

Dance forms include clog (Hannah James), Indian kathak (Sonia Sabri Company), flamenco (Ana Garcia) and contemporary African  (ACE), supported by musicians, were presented at four 45 mins assemblies. The dancers also hosted workshops for selected children from St Andrew’s Primary School in Nesscliffe, Severndale Specialist Academy, Sundorne School and Baschurch Primary School.

Further half day workshops were held at Weston Lullingfields, Greenacres Primary, Mount Pleasant Junior and St Giles Primary schools.

The Helping Hands, Dancing Feet performance debuted at the festival on Monday August 29th on main stage 2 at midday starring children from At Andrew’s and Baschurch Primary Schools with students from Severndale Specialist Academy and Sundorne School featuring via digital technology (see the performance on the video below):
